We had very hot weather for a trip to Storybook Gardens with Jayda, Tye, Leanne and Quinn. This was shot with my Miranda Sensoret on film, and it was a real challenge to get it to scan well.

Well, almost (missing several people, including Glen and the girls). This isn't a very creative photo, but it's my family, and I learned some interesting things about it this weekend. Like Aunt Nancy discovered when we arrived in Canada and the town from where we came in France. Our earliest known ancestor dates back to Normandy in 1595!

Miranda
Angela shot with the Miranda Sensoret I bought for fifty cents at a Salvation Army blowout sale, after which it would have been thrown out. It was Angela's idea to buy it, and it's a good thing because we have a tonne of old 35mm film in the freezer.

This was barely touched in Photoshop because it actually looked this way overnight. The clouds are lit by post-midnight full moon light. Long exposure helps, but to the eye, this is pretty close to how it looked. Seriously incredible!

This reminds me of my favourite baseball player from childhood; I liked his name (and his mustache), and Mookie Wilson's name, too. Other than that, my real favourite baseball player was my mom, but everyone knows that...

This chipmunk likes to stuff his face, but does so because he doesn't want Speedy to get his peanuts. I'm sure Muscles will have more than enough to get him through the winter with the stash he built this weekend.

This little turtle was taking his chances during our visit to the Gamble-Hess camp in Pike Bay. If he were around when Tye was riding his tricycle, he would have been in trouble for sure.

These young women are two members of Sweet & Toxic, a band formed as a result of The Band In You music school, run by Ken Dinel. You'll find out more by reading the Grand Bend Strip this Wednesday.

Although I don't eat meat, you might like these Hayter's turkey shish-kabobs James Eddington made up. He also brewed up this parsnip pear soup, which was amazing. Look for these and other recipes in the Grand Bend Strip soon (subscribers and newsstand copies only).

Scenes from this weekend's Not So Pro beach volleyball tournament. This group, including Ainsley Martinez, Troy Rieck, Casey De Vos and Aubrie deSylva, were especially good.
